COLIBRIS – Great glasses for small faces, now in their second generation
COLIBRIS was born over 25 years ago from Susanne Grimsehl-Reckzeh's personal search for the perfect pair of glasses. What began as a handmade solution in her own home in Lübeck is now – run by her daughter Elena in the second generation –one of the leading labels for narrow adult faces.
Because Susanne Grimsehl-Reckzeh found it very difficult to find glasses that suited her narrow face, she and her husband Wolfgang founded the COLIBRIS brand over 25 years ago. The master optician made the first glasses by hand for his wife and customers in his own optician's shop in Lübeck.
Now run by second-generation daughter Elena, the family business from northern Germany offers opticians worldwide one of the largest collections for petite adult faces. The prescription glasses and sunglasses are handmade in Germany and Italy and are available in sizes 42-50. Acetate, stainless steel, and 3D-printed frames from COLIBRIS complement your high-quality eyewear range with a unique variety of small adult frames.
A brief look back at how it all began: The idea was born out of personal need. Although she had access to the hottest brands as an optician, Colibris founder Susanne Reckzeh simply couldn't find any glasses that suited her face. None of the available models were right in terms of proportions or appearance. Together with her husband, a master optician and owner of the Colibri optician's shop, she finally put all her passion and expertise into solving the problem at the highest level – for herself and everyone else at the same time.
Today, 25 years later, daughter Elena Reckzeh-Gogoll is at the helm of the North German eyewear label. The in-house designer Liana Hagemeier is responsible for developing the collection, transforming inspiration from the big wide world into eyewear for narrow faces. To this end, prototypes are first created at the Lübeck factory, which are then sent for series production at selected partner manufacturers.
The prescription glasses and sunglasses are manufactured in Germany and Italy and offer opticians worldwide a unique variety of frames in sizes 42–50 – made from acetate, stainless steel, and 3D printing.
