Sustainability has long been more than just a trend in optometry. IG Sustainability brings together committed industry players who work together to develop solutions that firmly anchor ecological and social responsibility in optometry.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY OF INTEREST FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN OPHTHALMIC OPTICS
In 2022, the sustainability webinars at opti FORUM XT gave rise to the idea of communicating and pooling the sustainable actions and processes of each individual in the industry in order to encourage as many imitators as possible. The sustainability interest group was born and has been meeting regularly online and in person at opti ever since.
GOALS OF THE SUSTAINABILITY INTEREST GROUP
Saving plastic in ophthalmic optics or at least making it recyclable - this is currently the focus of the interest group. A very ambitious project, which can be clearly seen in the topics of "support discs" and "contact lens blisters". This requires the commitment of the entire industry.
