Over a glass of wine, two friends talk about their professions and their shared passion for craftsmanship. Marcus Marienfeld, a trained goldsmith who founded his innovative eyewear company in Brig more than 30 years ago, and Olivier Mounir, winemaker at the Cave du Rhodan in Salgesch, Valais.

An idea was born. After several discussions, drawings and prototypes, the joint project became a reality. Barrique Eyewear was born. An incredible work of art created from an oak tree grown over decades and then transformed into a barrique barrel. The Cave du Rhodan wine matured with passion in these fine barrels. When the barrel had served its purpose, it was dismantled and the staves were sent to Marcus Marienfeld for further processing.
The old oak is hand-selected by Marcus, as only the best barrel staves are given the honor of becoming a frame face. Combined with unidirectional carbon, the result is a highly aesthetic frame.
Each frame comes with a bottle of the wine from which the barrel was made.
Customers can choose between the Petite Arvine, Heida, Humagne Rouge and Cornalin models - all originals, all local wine specialties - Alpine frames for Alpine wine lovers.
