KLENZE & BAUM

The next generation of 3D printed eyewear

Made in Germany

KLENZE & BAUM – two long-time friends: one a product designer, the other a graphic designer, four years of development, two patents and one common vision: To reinvent the technical and aesthetic avantgarde of 3D printed eyewear. The manufactory in the heart of Munich’s trendy Glockenbachviertel is situated near the corner of two streets – Klenze and Baum Street. Here it produces 3D printed, custom made frames that show the company’s dedication to longevity, sustainability and uncompromising innovative spirit.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION

Since the frames are produced on demand in Germany, long transport journeys are avoided. The overproduction in the eyewear industry is counteracted by producing in smaller batches. The idea of sustainability also applies to the centerpiece of the innovative work presented at the company's founding in early 2018:

The reconstructable hinges of the collections VOYOU and SUMO have a detach mechanism when overstressed. They are so robust that they are guaranteed for life. Say goodbye to frames that break at the slightest impact and hello to fearless life.

For the new SLEEK collection, powder obtained from plant oil is used, which, as a renewable raw material, brings an additional plus when it comes to sustainability.

THE RECONSTRUCTABLE HINGE

The patented ball hinge has a unique function: It enables the temple to yield or even dislocate if overstressed. Then it can effortlessly be reattached within seconds. Exchanging temples couldn’t be easier.

Our frames can be provided with exchangeable sport temples. The flexible end goes around the whole ear and ensures a perfect grip for an optimal sport experience.

HOLY FIT! THE CUSTOMIZATION

For an individual adjustment of a serial frame, all the important parameters of the frames such as frame width, temple length, nose width, inclination and base curve can be changed.

A METAL CORE INSIDE

To adjust the temple of KLENZE & BAUM frames you don’t require nerves of steel. With the world’s first technique for 3D-printed eyewear to be adjusted with a metal insert in the temple, it can be fitted to a face, just like conventional acetate glasses. Now the frame has firm grip at the head. In addition, the temple can be bent behind the ear. All collections have this special feature. The temples of the ASKET collection can also be shortened easily, as we mix titanium temples with the 3D printed spectacle fronts.

HOLLOW PRINTING

The SUMO collection is showing off big time but has not a lot to show for. That is because the SUMO frames are printed hollow. Astonishingly light-weight for such voluminous glasses. They defy gravity and offer outstanding wearing comfort to lovers of voluptuous shapes.

ALL COLLECTIONS AVAILABLE WITH NOSE PADS

All frames of KLENZE & BAUM can be supplied with nose pads. Furthermore all nose pads can be equipped with 3D printed clip-ons on request. They match frame colors and are available in all custom colors.

EXCHANGEABLE CUSTOM SPORTS TEMPLES

Thanks to the hinge, all the models from the VOYOU collection can be equipped with replaceable sports temples. The flexible end goes around the whole ear for a perfect fit. To determine the optimal length for the sports temples, the optician uses an adaptable measurement temple.

CHANGING METAL COLORS

With all KLENZE & BAUM frames you can change metal colors with no extra charge.

NEW COLLECTION: SLEEK

THE STEEL PILL FOR EASY SHORTENING OF THE TEMPLES

In the new SLEEK collection, we install a steel cap at the temple end to shorten the temple. Simply unscrew it, shorten it to the right length and screw it back on without any aesthetic defects.

By the way: The temples in the ASKET collection can also be shortened without any problems, as titanium temples with 3D-printed fronts are used here. Simply heat the end of the temple, straighten it, cut it, pull the temple end back on and adjust the temple.

NEW MATERIALS ECOLUCENT AND ACELIKE FOR TRANSLUCENT EFFECT

Finally, translucent 3D printing has arrived. A fresh, new look that is particularly striking with light frame colors.

The material ECOLUCENT is made from plant-oil. The so-called wonder tree and the castor oil extracted from it are the source of this bio-based material PA11, which has a particularly low CO2 footprint. This material already gives the 3D print a slight translucent effect.

The new ACELIKE material offers a further improvement. Here we achieve an effect that makes eyewear look like matt acetate.
