ACELIKE - game changer in 3D printing
Acetate look meets 3D printing. KLENZE & BAUM opens up new horizons in 3D printing by using a semi-transparent acetate-like material with a unique textur.
At Opti, KLENZE & BAUM is presenting 3D printed frames that are even more translucent than anything previously known. Eyewear is now possible that resembles acetate both haptically and optically, but offer the advantages of 3D printing.
The DLP process hardens liquid resin using light. We are no longer dealing with white powder that is melted by laser, but with photopolymers that harden layer by layer by projecting images. We have named the material ACELIKE in reference to its similarity to acetate, but also because we have a real ace up our sleeve here.
The material does not fade, does not turn gray and does not shrink over time. You can also customize the frames, which is typical for 3D printing and also a specialty of our brand. We have opted for a matt finish, which we consider to be of very high quality. We can still see a slight 3D printing-specific structure in the detail, but this makes a subtle difference to acetate. The surface of the frames feels amazing and much softer than the previous 3D print.
