opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB supported by FOCUS

opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB supported by FOCUS

Sustainability is particularly close to opti's heart and was also addressed and discussed in various forms in 2025. Numerous discussions and specialist presentations on this topic were offered at the trade show in 2025.

TALKS, LECTURES & OTHER HOT TOPICS

The opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB offered a varied programme with practical information and insights into the latest developments in the field of sustainability. Presentations and talks invited participants to take a closer look at the challenges and opportunities of sustainable business. The hub served as a platform for networking with like-minded people and exchanging ideas.

A particular highlight was a presentation that explored the question of how sustainability is anchored in university work and in the training of master craftsmen and optometrists. There was also a presentation focussing on circular eyewear design. The members of the Sustainability Interest Group also contributed their expertise to the programme once again.

The opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB was therefore the ideal place to expand knowledge, gather practical inspiration and shape the future of sustainable action in ophthalmic optics together with colleagues.

IG SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability in ophthalmic optics - a matter close to IG Nachhaltigkeit's heart that requires attention.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY OF INTEREST FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN OPHTHALMIC OPTICS

In 2022, the sustainability webinars at opti FORUM XT gave rise to the idea of communicating and pooling the sustainable actions and processes of each individual in the industry in order to encourage as many imitators as possible. The sustainability interest group was born and has been meeting regularly online and in person at opti ever since.

GOALS OF THE SUSTAINABILITY INTEREST GROUP

Saving plastic in ophthalmic optics or at least making it recyclable - this is currently the focus of the interest group. A very ambitious project, which can be clearly seen in the topics of "support discs" and "contact lens blisters". This requires the commitment of the entire industry.
