Awareness of the ongoing food waste in the industrialised countries is increasing more and more. Of course, this also applies to waste avoidance in general. Consumers are also more willing to avoid throwing away goods and (superfluous) packaging in shops.
In other areas, waste avoidance is also becoming more important. In particular, the usefulness of plastic packaging is increasingly being questioned. The first supermarkets are already selling unpackaged goods from large containers to customers who bring their own storage containers.
Significance for optics:
In the optical sector, too, large quantities of packaging waste are produced every day. The Packaging Act passed in 2018 is intended to ensure more recycling and transparency in the market and must be observed by businesses and companies.
Less is more - Instead of mountains of rubbish causing more and more problems for our planet, companies are therefore increasingly committed to methods that strive for a future as free of rubbish as possible. The logical continuation of recycling in the sense of sustainable and resource-saving handling and use of raw materials.
