SUSTAINABILITY HUB supported by FOCUS

opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB supported by FOCUS

Sustainability is particularly close to opti's heart and will continue to be addressed and discussed in various forms in 2025. In 2025, the trade show offered numerous discussions and specialist lectures on this topic.

TALKS, PRESENTATIONS & MORE HOT TOPICS

The opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB offered a diverse programme with practical information and insights into the latest developments in the field of sustainability. Presentations and lectures invited visitors to take a closer look at the challenges and opportunities of sustainable business practices. The hub served as a platform for networking with like-minded people and for exchanging ideas.

One particular highlight was a lecture that explored the question of how sustainability is embedded in university work and in the training of master opticians and optometrists. There was also a presentation that focused on circular eyewear design. The members of the Sustainability Interest Group once again contributed their expertise to the programme.

The opti SUSTAINABILITY HUB was therefore the ideal place to expand knowledge, gather practical inspiration and shape the future of sustainability in ophthalmic optics together with colleagues.

Sustainability in ophthalmic optics - a matter close to IG Nachhaltigkeit's heart that requires attention.

ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY INTEREST GROUP

In 2022, the sustainability webinars at opti FORUM XT gave rise to the idea of communicating and bundling sustainable actions and processes of every individual in the industry in order to encourage as many imitators as possible. The sustainability community of interest was born and has been meeting regularly online and in person at opti ever since.

GOALS OF THE SUSTAINABILITY INTEREST GROUP

Saving plastic in ophthalmic optics or at least making it recyclable - that is currently the focus of the community of interest. This is a very ambitious project, which can be vividly illustrated by the topics of "support discs" and "contact lens blisters". This requires the commitment of the entire industry.
