The Metro story
Like so many other stories, this begins in a café.
A conversation with Elis, a young student from Paris passing through who asks:
- "The glasses, where did you buy them?"
He quickly notes that they are too expensive for a student.
The conversation continues out into the street, separating at Magasinsgatan when he asks
- "Where is the Metro?"
- "We only got Spårvagn in Gothenburg"
The meeting was the start of Metro Eyewear with the idea that the price, shape and quality would also suit a student and be available at the local optician. It also became the inspiration for the very first model we made, which was named "Elis". Today it is a timeless classic in the collection. Gothenburg, a multicultural student city, is our soul and inspiration. This is where Metro collects inspiration from people and stories, and it is on Gothenburg's streets that they find exciting encounters that shape new models. The creative process is constantly present.
The models have names that reflect Gothenburg's soul – areas, streets, people, bars and expressions that lives in the city.
