The i-Shape® scleral lens is no longer manufactured using the standard process, but according to individual profilometry data of the patient's eye and thus corresponds to the biometric "fingerprint" of the eye.
In contrast to the conventional scleral lens fitting using trial lenses, the fitting of the i-Shape® is completely software-based. With 72 radials (36 sections), all asymmetries of the sclera and limbus are considered and transferred to the impact point of the limbal clearance zone and the scleral landing zone of the i-Shape®. The BOZD is calculated using various methods with the aim of vaulting the entire cornea as uniformly as possible. Any necessary decentration of the BOZD is also calculated by the software as a best-fit sphere or best-fit toricity and therefore does not need to be adjusted manually by the practitioner.
