The lamination technique with acetate, refined (perfected) through years of experience, makes it possible to create the most beautiful works of art in the FUNK eyewear manufactory. Designer Sashee Schuster often spends hours in her studio: flowers, seeds, feathers, silk, gold leaf and much more are used to create these coveted unique pieces - UNIQUEs.
Some of the offcuts created during production are turned into beautiful acetate jewellery. From the raw material to the finished glasses, all in one house. From raw material to finished glasses, all in one house.
Sashee Schuster's motivation:
"The beauty of nature is fleeting, it's part of the cycle of life. Embedded in acetate, however, it does not fade. When I laminate seeds, this plant is also preserved for the future. And when mankind finds my glasses thousands of years from now, the plants that may already be extinct can be brought back to life."
We have packed around 500 uniques exclusively for our customers, which we will be presenting at opti 2024. Whoever comes first will get to see the most beautiful ones before they are gone again so quickly ;o)
